Propane cylinders are designed to take up really little space and can be kept inside the storage area or in an outdoor facility. It does take some time to switch out a propane cylinder, although, it still does requires operator training in order to be performed safely and also need knowledge of safety standards like the Occupational Health and Safety Administration or OSHA.
IC trucks are easier and faster to refuel, compared to electric trucks, but the internal combustion or IC engines create major air-polluting emissions and are very noisy.
NARROW-AISLE FORKLIFTS
The ITA's Class 2 trucks comprise a huge range of electric lift trucks and these are specially made to be used in narrow aisles. The typical storage aisles are 12 feet wide, and this easily allows a counterbalanced forklift to turn in the aisle and put a load away. Usually, the very narrow aisles are around 5.5 to 6 feet wide, whereas narrow aisles are 8 feet wide. These narrow aisles need specialized forklifts which could put away loads without any turning at all or that are small enough to turn on a tight radius.
Reach trucks, turret trucks and order pickers are 3 of the most common narrow-aisle trucks. The differences amongst these forklifts are discussed below.
Narrow-Aisle Reach Forklifts
The original narrow-aisle lift truck is considered to be the conventional reach truck. These machinery do not require a big counterweight and are therefore, small enough to turn in narrow aisles. Instead, stability is provided by the outrigger arms that extend in front of the trucks. Nonetheless, depending on the storage configuration, these outrigger arms can prevent the forklifts from getting close enough to the storage rack to retrieve and deposit loads. In order to overcome this particular situation, a pantograph was designed. The pantograph is a reach truck which is designed with a telescoping mechanism. This enables forks to reach into storage locations easily and concisely.
The best environment for narrow aisle forklifts is a place that has good lighting, clean floors and good traffic flow, well-maintained floor, in addition to ample turning space.
These kinds of machines have changed the material handling industry. Toyota stands behind their commitment to providing exceptional quality and extremely strong machinery.
