Kinds of Forklifts
Forklifts are used within warehouse and construction sites to carry and transport heavy loads. They are commonly found in material handling and other manufacturing industries. There are different types of forklifts designed for different sorts of applications.
The biggest difference between forklifts is the way they are powered. Some use internal combustion motors and some are electrical powered. For carrying loads that are heavy while maintaining minimum operating costs, the best choice are normally electric forklifts. Electric forklifts are usually found in indoor work sites. For outdoor applications, internal combustion forklifts are commonly recommended.
Types of forklifts are motorized drive, manual drive and fork trucks. Fork trucks are motorized and have backup alarms and cabs. Motorized drive forklifts usually have a protected seat for the operator. Manual drive forklifts are manually powered.
To be able to avoid tipping, several forklifts are counterbalanced. Other safety features comprise turntables or handrails. Specialty forklifts are available for specific uses. Like for example, narrow aisle forklifts are designed to work in very tight spaces. Rough-terrain forklifts work well on rocky and uneven surfaces.
