Bucket Trucks
Bucket trucks or cherry pickers, are built with a long boom that has a bucket connected at the end. This bucket area is where an employee could stand. Commonly, bucket trucks are utilized by utility workers and by landscapers. Landscapers usually use these types of equipment to cut trees.
Each bucket truck has a boom assembly mounted to a standard truck, which enables these vehicles to move fast on normal roads. Additionally, this increases the area which this machinery could service efficiently. This is particularly important for power companies. Like for instance, many of these companies utilize cherry pickers to elevate employees up so they could work on and reach transmission lines. The buckets have to be regularly inspected and correctly insulated since they are working close to possible shock hazards.
Articulated boom lifts are also referred to as "knuckle lifts", and have a work platform that is mounted on an arm that is able to bend so as to reach around obstacles. The base of the lift includes a turntable and could turn the lift in a full circle. The base of the lift is mounted on wheels also for extra mobility.
Usually, the articulated boom lift is used for landscaping projects but is also useful for maintenance work on projects that are already finished. Projects which do not require easy access directly underneath the jobsite. These lifts can be used for exterior electrical work and to repair piping, and hard to clean areas. Usually knuckle lifts are driven by the worker in the platform with the boom extended.
