A type of equipment in the material handling industry which can be utilized to lift and transport loads from one place to another is referred to as a forklift. Each forklift part has a particular function. Different components can be used to move the load vertically or horizontally.
Mast
The components used to lift and lower the load is known as the forklift mast. There are different kinds of masts for raising loads to various heights: triplex, quad, simplex and duplex.
Power Supply
Forklifts have four different ways of being powered: gas, electric, diesel and propane. The battery is located in the cab under the seat. The propane tank is located on the rear of the truck. The fuel tank on diesel and gas forklifts is beneath the rear of the truck.
Cab
The forklift cab is positioned within the center of the truck. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the informational gauges and controls. The steering wheel, gas pedal, tilting controls, brake and lifting controls are all situated in the cab.
Frame
Carrying all the biggest forklift parts is the frame of the truck. This consists of the counterweights situated at the rear that prevents the truck from tipping over when loaded. The frame includes the overhead guard which protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the driveshaft, axles and wheels.
